Overview

Armed with a strong foundation of core subjects, the students are encouraged to develop a capability to work in interdisciplinary areas like Cyber Physical Systems, Biomedical engineering, Robotics, Factory Automation, Electronic System Design etc. The Department has a strong association with Mitsubishi Electric India Pvt. Ltd. and has benefited largely from the Advanced Factory Automation laboratory set up under this collaboration. The interdisciplinary nature of the programme has helped graduates to develop skills in various areas making them the most sought after engineers in the growing control and automation industry.

The Department is known for its research in various domains like Advanced Control, Process Control, Industrial Automation, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Image Processing and Machine Vision. This is ably supported by laboratories equipped with the latest equipment and tools.

Faculty and students of the department have achieved many milestones in terms of National and International awards and recognition. The Department has won the Silver Cup consecutively three times in a row at Mitsubishi Electric Cup, a prestigious National Level Automation Competition for students organised by Mitsubishi Electric India Pvt Ltd. Students of the department also secured Best Project Awards and many International Scholarships from the International Society of Automation (ISA).

A graduate of Instrumentation and Control Engineering Programme will have the ability to –

  1. understand, analyse, design and develop control system for industrial automation applications
  2. select, commission, troubleshoot and maintain various instruments and associated systems
  3. apply conceptual knowledge to undertake research in the areas of (but not limited to) advanced control, sensor technology, biomedical engineering, industrial automation, navigation and control.
